Our Nikau artists were totally engaged in creating their magnificent birds of fantasy. We were so proud of their commitment to the process of collaboration. The success is in the outcome, which belongs to them, and these works speak volumes in regard to this.

Art, art, and more art!
This term Nikau children have been busy with a lot of designing, drawing and painting with calendar art, painting godwits, and creating fantasy birds for Sculpture on Shore. The Sculpture on Shore art are still in the making but are already looking spectacular. We cannot wait to see the final product!

Today we buddied up in our whanau groups to create spectacular chalk art for peace. Alyssa beavered away with her Miro buddy to make beautiful letters for the word Peace. Other children created symbols of their own or modified well known designs. Most importantly the children worked happily and peacefully on their project to launch Peace Week.

Maths Problem Solving Thursdays
This term every Thursday we have whole class maths problem solving sessions.
Integrating our inquiry topic 'Flight' with maths, the students each created their own paper planes.

Afterwards the Nikau children took turns trialling their paper planes. We were fascinated at the different ways and lengths each plane flew.
